Strengthening cessation interventions within the health system in Egypt

 Overall goal of the project

Contribute to reducing mortality and morbidity due to tobacco use through building a national framework for healthcare professional advocacy integrating Tobacco cessation interventions in the healthcare system.

We intend to build Healthcare professional advocacy to take forward the national implementation of FCTC Article 14.

Objectives

  1. Establish a taskforce of key leaders from medical societies, other key stakeholders and governmental officials to build a coherent cessation strategy and build healthcare professional capacity.
  2. Establish 30 tobacco free health care facilities providing cessation interventions within their system according to quality control and accreditation standards.
  3. Increase capacity of 200 health care professionals and hospital administrators in specialized centers on cessation interventions within the health care system.
  4. Building the capacity of 2000 health care professionals in specialized health care facilities and house officers to deliver brief counseling effectively through a set of skill building training
